Since COVID, I’ve been using Zoom for editing consultations with clients

I’m a Gippsland-based editing business, but I have clients all over Australia as well as in Gippsland.

Therefore, I was already using online methods for consulting with clients prior to COVID-19: email, telephone, teleconference and, occasionally, Zoom. I also met local clients face to face whenever we needed to.

Since COVID, however, I’ve been using Zoom as my main communication tool for consulting with my clients, whether local or interstate. The reasons I now use Zoom instead of face to face meetings with local clients  are:

  1. Obviously, with COVID-19 still a risk everywhere in Australia, it is safer,
  2. Face to face, you have to wear a mask. Using Zoom, you can virtually, actually meet and see people ‘face to face’,
  3. I have discovered that a Zoom consultation is actually a more efficient and effective method than a face to face consultation, and
  4. Since last March, almost everybody has learned to use the internet and platforms such as Zoom. In fact, nowadays, most of my clients – regardless of their age – expect me to be able to communicate with them via Zoom.

Sometimes a client – whether local or not – can’t or doesn’t want to use Zoom and that’s okay. I’ve been consulting with clients via phone to edit their books for 20 years, and will continue to do so.

In our future ‘COVID-normal’ world, will my clients and I go back to face to face consultations and meetings? Or continue to meet only online? This will depend upon what my clients want and need.

Infection Control For Business

I am an infection control consultant helping businesses get the support they need during this rapidly changing regulatory environment.

I am setting up a sensible, cost effective and scientifically sound plans for businesses around Warragul and looking at expanding my services around the region.

I am a qualified dentist for more than 10 years and have undertaken further training specific to COVID-19 in the non health care setting.

I provide:

1. An in- house service where I conduct a site assessment

2 A resource package including mandatory signage

3. A written comprehensive tailored report regarding infection control practices.

4. Follow up service

My aim is to prevent businesses from doing unnecessary costly and un-scientifically sound measures that will drive customers away. I want to ensure staff and customer safety and ultimately take the stress away around infection control.

Thank you.

Adjusting your business practices in a COVID-19 world

One of the main ways many Gippsland businesses have adjusted to the COVID-19 restrictions is to move their staff out of the office and into their own homes. Staff, client/customer, and networking meetings that were usually held face-to-face pre-CV are nowadays taking place online – via teleconference, Zoom, Google Hangouts and other online platforms.

For more information on this, go to: Repositioning your business in a COVID-19 world.

How we have streamlined our business to suit your needs in COVID-19

At Gippsland’s On Time Typing, Editing and Proofreading, we sit in on your online meetings or discussions. We scribe, or minute-take, the session. We do this in real time, as you speak. We then edit the minutes or transcript of your meeting and submit them to you by email. It doesn’t matter where you live or what sort of meeting it is: if it’s online, we can do it.

Why it’s important to have your meetings documented

Especially when your teams are working in their own homes, rather than together in one office, it is important that your meetings are accurately documented and that everyone involved, or that you want to get involved, receives a copy of the minutes or transcript. That way, you can keep everyone on your team on the same page.

If you’d like more information about our online scribing and minute-taking services, contact Sally-Anne (Moe, Gippsland).

Business Support in Uncertain Times

What is happening right now in Australia is challenging for individuals and families. We know that on top of this, many of our community members are also facing challenges with their work and their businesses.

At Work My Own Way, we want to make sure that we’re delivering a program of support that helps you with your most immediate and pressing needs. Because of this, we’ll be making some changes to the program to support our community in adapting their businesses for the current climate. These changes will include:

  • Increasing the number of digital marketing office hours available
  • Holding all workshops as webinars to comply with social distancing & increase accessibility
  • Substituting our face-to-face mentoring and meetup events for additional webinars
  • Reorienting all of our webinar topics to help you with COVID-19-specific challenges.

We will be sharing all of these webinars with you in the coming weeks however, you can expect to see topics around getting your business online, managing cashflow and resilient leadership.

Our wonderful program partners, Pursuit Advisers, are also doing everything they can to support the business community. Pursuit Advisers have released a number of helpful resources including a summary of the COVID-19 Stimulus Packages as well as a comprehensive list of things you can do as a business owner to prepare for the impact of COVID-19.

Startup Gippsland Programs – COVID-19 Update

We want to assure our stakeholders that Startup Gippsland will still run in 2020. There will likely be temporary changes to the way our program operates, but our organisation and our partners are resilient and are used to adapting to change. We are confident we can still deliver the full program in 2020. Learning how to use technology to scale your business, as well as learning to innovate and adapt to challenges are both key parts of the Startup Gippsland program, so the program will likely be more relevant than ever to help businesses and founders adapt to these challenging times.

Our Policy

Our response to COVID-19 has been developed through our interpretation of the most up-to-date advice from the Victorian Government, Federal Government and international health authorities (such as WHO and CDC), as well as based on responses shared for public use by other organisations working with startups and small businesses. As government advice changes, so will our response.

If you’re interested, you can view our company’s most recent policy here. We are making this publicly available for anyone to copy and share since we realise that many other organisations will need to create similar policies and may not have the resources to stay on top of the latest developments.

Stay well!
