Do you go to a plumber when you need an electrician? No? Then why would ask business advice from someone who has never been in business?

About this Event

This event is all about experienced entrepreneurs sharing their professional and business stories of trials and tribulations. To grow your business, you should listen to people who are doing or have done something similar to you. Not everyone gets why you’d want to start your own business, so it’s important to surround yourself with those who get it and can inspire and motivate you.

Join us to learn from those who have done it before. Hear their stories of success, failure and enlightenment. Our speakers for the evening are:

  • Ryan Leslie, Founder and Principle Consultant at Aerium. Ryan combines creativity, strategy and intellectual property advice to help start-ups and businesses turn great ideas into commercial successes and robust brands. He’s a big picture guy with attention to detail who extracts value out of ideas, products and services to help you improve your customer’s experience, your footprint and bottom line. With over 20 years in engineering, market research, business coaching and development, Ryan brings significant and varied experience to the table to help you avoid costly mistakes and fast-track success.
  • Gillian Mertens, Founder of Island Mowing. Gillian has owned & operated Island Mowing, for 32 years. Island Mowing now has 3 staff & 400 clients. Gillian has been in business for most of her life. Her family owned P.I. Bus Lines & Taxi’s for 35 years. She has also worked for 5 years with her daughter Lucy May, in her Café and Catering business. To this day, Gillian still continues to assist Lucy in her Roaming Poppy Retro Coffee Caravan. Gillian is a founding member of the Southern Business Women’s Network, which is now in its 20th year. Over the past 10 years, they have seen amazing growth in Network; with over 500 amazing ladies & businesses now in the community. Gillian is particularly interested in marketing & branding businesses, looking at businesses from the customers eyes and business facebook pages.
  • Narelle Jones & Phill Dempster of Burra Brewing Co. Phill is the head brewer and director/co-owner at Burra Brewing Co. Owners Luke, Anthony and Phill were away on a golf weekend and beer plus golf resulted in the creation of BURRA BREWING Co. After many years of planning and pilot batches, the brewery found a home transforming a former grain store on the Sth. Gippsland Highway, Korumburra. Finally opening its doors in August 2018. Phill still creates fresh new brews and produces all of the beer at Burra. Leaving a full time job 6 months prior to opening, Phill demonstrated the passion and enthusiasm he is known for in managing the construction of the venue and brew house. Drawing on over 20yrs of operational management experience Phill has a hands on approach, which is an integral part of providing support for the team at Burra Brewing Co.

After the semi-formal meeting, let your hair down and mingle. Build relationships with likeminded people that you can connect with after the event is over.
