Are you interested in working with drones?

This pre-employment course will provide you with practical skills to help kick start your career in drones

A 6-week program to provide you with entry-level skills to understand drones and how to fly them.

You will learn:

Where to fly a drone

How to fly one safely

Make and fly an obstacle course

Take photographs, video and editing

Drones are being utilised in ever-increasing numbers across a range of industries, from farming to real estate agencies to the military and photographic businesses…and they are slated to become even more prolific in the workforce.

In this course, you will learn how to fly and operate drones safely and effectively using both simulators and real working drones. No prior knowledge needed, just a desire to learn!

This newly developed course combines STEM (Science, Technology Engineering and Math’s) with Drone technology.   This courses will give you a taster into the world of drones, and an opportunity for further study and possible employment opportunities.

The course will involve applied and contextualised teaching of basic math and physics. The students will be required to evaluate and comment on their experiences to develop their communication and interpersonal skills while evaluating their drone activities and relating these back to their observational work experiences.  As well as basic drone operations, the students will choose a real-world project in which they will use the drones to produce a 360-degree video.

Program and pathways

This project seeks to provide a pathway for adult learners – particularly young adult learners- to gain the skills necessary to obtain entry into the accredited courses with a view to gaining employment in this growing field, or to develop their own businesses.

Potential Pathways:

  • Commercial UAV Pilot’s Licence
  • Foundation Year (Science / Engineering)
