String & Salt is a store founded on a love of food and home, great design and sharing with friends and family.

Opened in April 2014, String & Salt presents a carefully curated selection of goods that are at once practical and pleasing in form and function. We value quality, usefulness and timelessness. We choose objects made to last; items that make everyday tasks a little more beautiful, a little more pleasurable and a little less costly to our planet.

Our pride and joy is a collection of over 300 fine quality spices, herbs, spice blends, single origin salts, peppers and teas . We mix and mill over 40 unique small-batch spice blends and salt rubs, exclusive to String & Salt.

Our cooking school is as much about feeling as food. It is a space for getting back to basics and making food from scratch, appreciating the seasons and recapturing a sense of kin and community.

As well as a large range of classes featuring some of Gippsland's finest chefs and foodies, we also offer private events and classes for your next special occasion or corporate function.

We're a bricks and mortar (and wood and plaster) store where you will discover an ever changing array of handmade ceramics; quality cookware; tableware; cooking and gardening books; preserving, fermenting, bread, cheese and beer making supplies; natural Australian cleaning products and skincare, GMO free seeds; gardening tools and accessories.
