Renewing our kids future

Installation of solar panels at the Phillip Island Early Learning Centre is almost complete!

Earlier this year Nick Stephens, a local parent partnered with the Energy Innovation Co-operative to apply for a Pick My Project grant to install solar panels on the building and to design educational materials around renewable energy to be used with the children.

BWD Solar a local company based in Cowes was chosen to install 30kW of solar panels on the roof of the Centre. Installation was scheduled during the July School holidays to minimize disruption.

Fortunately  the weather was great for most of the week and the system was installed without a hitch, tested, and is now awaiting final approvals before it will turned on permanently. This 30kW system will significantly reduce the electricity costs at the Centre and any excess power produced will be used by the adjoining Cowes Primary School.
