Old Energy – New Energy Officially Switched On!

Business Owner - Energy Consultant - Energy Management Consultancy

The Energy Innovation Co-Operative’s “Old Energy-New Energy” project (stage 2) situated at the State Coal Mine Wonthaggi has been officially launched by Victorian Energy Minister Lily D’Ambrosio. Local Bass MP Jordan Crugnale, Monash candidate Jessica O’Donnell, Bass Coast Deputy Mayor Cr Bruce Kent, South Gippsland Mayor Cr Don Hill & many councillors, Carol Blair from Bass Coast Community Foundation, plus Parks Vic and DELWP reps and lots of our Friends and supporters helped!

The Victorian government’s New Energy Jobs Fund grant enabled the Energy Innovation Co-op to install 91 kW of solar panels and 41 kWh battery storage.

The system was officially switched on, on the 3rd of May 2019.

The system will produce 127 MW clean power per annum. That’s an offset of 127 tonnes of CO2 annually, equivalent to taking 37 petrol cars off the road. It is more than the current annual consumption at the site (112MW.)

Income provided to Energy Innovation Co-op by the sale of electricity to Parks Victoria, will contribute towards the Southern CORE Fund. (Stage 1 of the broader project)
